The Emerging Leaders Award celebrates young women 13-21 years of age as “Up and Coming Leaders”. Recipients exemplify the spirit of a great emerging role model and mentor among their peers.

Jadan crow

Jadan is a 2019 DeSoto High School Graduate. She will be attending Texas Christian University. She is a TCU Community Scholar which afforded her a full, four year ride to attend the University! She plans to major in Spanish and Pre-Med. Her future plans include attending UT Southwestern’s Medical School, taking Global Medical Trips, studying abroad in Spain and ultimately becoming an Anesthesiologist. She enjoys photography, all genres of music and learning new things.

marifer vega hernandez

Marifer is a 2019 graduate of DeSoto High School and plans to attend Texas A&M University at College Station in the fall of 2019. She will be majoring in Engineering. As a high school student, she was very active and involved throughout the years. She served her church, St. Francis de Assisi Catholic Church, as a guide and offering collector. She also volunteered with the Chocolate Mint Foundation and various DeSoto Community Events like Best Southwest Everything Teen Expo and DeSoto's College Fair. She was also a part of JROTC and enjoys photography in her spare time.

Taylor is a 2019 graduate of DeSoto High School, Cedar Valley College, and Mountain View Community College receiving a Phlebotomy certification upon graduation. She will be attending UT Austin to complete a Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology. In the future, She wants to become a Trauma Surgeon and develop a Sex Education program that can be implemented in schools all over the world. She believes her purpose is to stimulate positive growth in every community she reaches, and intends to live out that purpose in any way she can for God's Kingdom.
